Augusta Whale Watching
Experience the annual whale migration in the sheltered waters of Flinders Bay, where the Southern and Indian Oceans meet.
Established in 1993, Naturaliste Charters is the South West’s longest-running family-owned whale watching operator, with more than 30 years of experience sharing Western Australia’s remarkable marine wildlife.
Whale Watching in Flinders Bay
From mid-May to early August, Humpback Whales travel through Augusta during their northern migration to warmer breeding grounds.
Flinders Bay provides a spectacular setting for whale watching, with its sheltered waters, rugged coastline and views towards Cape Leeuwin.
Humpback Whales are the most commonly encountered species, often displaying behaviours such as breaching, tail slapping and social interaction. Southern Right Whales may also visit the bay, while Blue Whales and Minke Whales are occasionally sighted.
Other marine wildlife may include:
- Bottlenose and Common Dolphins
- New Zealand Fur Seals
- Seabirds and other ocean wildlife
Every tour is different because every encounter takes place entirely in the wild.
